Data warehousing has exposed Information Quality problems that become apparent when an organisation attempts to integrate disparate data. Its quality may satisfy operational and functional processes, but fail miserably to satisfy downstream information analysis and enterprise processes.

To address this issue, both the infomation customer (the data warehouse), and the information supplier (the operational business systems) need to integrate Information Quality processes.

Point of entry systems can implement data entry validation and standardisation.   This ensures better quality information downstream. Once information arives at the data warehouse, it is standardised, enhanced (more information added to it) and matched to provide true, accurate, reliable and related information.
